{Post Number One -aka- Gushing About My New Purchase}

First and foremost, Alison! What a brilliant idea! I'm so excited to have a place to talk about our favorite little boutique.

Secondly...

GUESS WHO BOUGHT THIS BEAUTY TODAY?

For those of you who have ever met me ever, you know that this gorgeous creation stole my heart from day one. I've gabbed about it, tried it on, and lusted after it for months now, and now it gets to live in my closet. How about that.

So did you think I was done gushing? Well, you were wrong. Dead wrong. This dress makes my heart flutter for several reasons. I shall make a list:

1. I just love Trashy Diva. I love Candace Gwinn. I love her vision and I think she designs dresses that make a gal (of any size and shape) feel like a woman, and a hot one at that. I love that she designs her own beautiful fabrics. And I love that she lives in New Orleans.

2. I love the way it makes me feel. You know when you're watching Say Yes to the Dress (just admit it) and bride puts on THE dress, looks in mirror, smiles, maybe cries, nods, and says, "This is it! This is the one!" Well, I had that moment the first time I tried on this dress.

3. It SO reminds me of my grandmother, Iris Wood Smith (awesome name). She died when I was quite young, and was sick for a long time before that. But she was my grandmother, and there is some part of her in me--I just know it. And as tangible and worldly and fleeting as this cotton dress may be, it is, at the very least, a symbol of our connectedness. And that is powerful.

Clearly #3 on the list is the most important, and ultimately what makes Lucille Elaine so incredible.
